Main Charm Page - Peanuts & Snoopy Aviva/UFS/other

 Welcome!  In an effort to document the many different charms that were made by Aviva/UFS (starting sometime in the 1970's until recently) as well as other similar charms in various forms, here is a photo gallery of the charm types known to exist (not all designs are pictured here, the total number of designs is unknown).  They vary slightly in size depending on the design, but are all generally under 1 inch tall unless otherwise noted.  This isn't a store or shopping site, but I do entertain swapping doubles for ones on my wishlist or purchasing outright - let me know what you have on my Wishlist or what you may be searching for - I can check my doubles:  snoopygal2000@hotmail.com, enjoy!  Cindy :)

  Type 1:  There are several "types" - most prevalent here is the Cloisonné Flat Finish Enamel type - where the colored enamel (sometimes called Cloisonné) is smooth to the touch all the way across the charm - like Mr. Google Eyes here. 

Type 2: is the Hand Painted Raised Relief Finish variety - which has slightly recessed areas and slightly raised outlines that you can see and feel - like this Diving charm.  Sometimes called "Soft Cloisonne" by a few of us collectors.

Type three is an All-Metal Cut-Away type (no color) which has the design in an oval or circle with cut out sections around the main design - these are very thin charms that are either silvertone or goldtone, in small and large sizes. 

Type 4: There are some solid metal charms (aluminum perhaps - very light) with either black or blue coloration on silvertone like this "Conserve Energy" charm.  These are fairly thick - about 1/16" thick.

Type 5:  Medallion Charms - these are 1 1/16" round charms (and some larger) that Aviva made in the same material as the smaller Aviva charms.  They have similar images to the smaller charms, usually having words under the image - like this "Canada" medallion.  Some medallion charms are similar to this one - but in a much larger size - approximately 2 inches in diameter.  Cloisonné or hand-painted.

Type 6 (Everything Else!/Non-Aviva) - There are also some larger charms (made by Starline and others) that are fun to see.  These charms are on average 1" to 1.5" tall - give or take.  It is possible that some were off of keychains or earrings, the one of Snoopy dancing here has UFS (United Feature Syndicate) marked on the back - UFS is the licensing mark for Peanuts/Snoopy items.

Other Metal Charms:

Black or Blue printing on silvertone solid aluminum-type metal.

Medallion Charms:

Aviva made these round charms - they are larger (1 1/16" round, but 1 1/4" tall with the hanger, some are even larger - 2" round).

Bigger Miscellaneous Charms (i.e. Everything Else!):

These are much larger (non-Aviva) - they are from 1" to 1 1/2" or more in height and are much thicker than a small Aviva charm.  Possibly could be used on a keychain, although the top hat Woodstocks were from an earring/necklace set.  The Snoopy Christmas tree & Charlie Brown Christmas Tree is like the Woodstocks (and is of similar size) even though the pic is small.  The "Love Is.." charm is pewter.  Some of the pairs that have two matching charms in either direction were earring sets originally.
